Sending out Christmas cards is one of my favorite things to do during the festive season. This year, I expanded my list of friends to whom I send a card because I feel like this is something that cheers everyone up (I mean, getting something in the post that’s not a bill is a delight, isn’t it?). This way, I can give a little something even to those who live far away, the university friends I no longer see but they are still in my heart and the friends who I don’t see as frequently as I would like.

And, surprise-surprise, I do my own cards, because DIY is fun and thoughtful, even though the results aren’t always the most beautiful. Plus, I’m an old romantic, so sending out my hand-made Christmas cards via post is kind of a treat to me.

What you’ll need for DIY Christmas Cards:

So when it comes to DIY Christmas cards (or any cards) you’ll definitely need some blank cards and envelopes, but you can also cut out cards from paper. Another thing that makes card-making easier is double sided foam tape (the little square ones). Also, get some paper glue – it was a game changer for me. Other than that, it’s all up to you, depending on the designs you want. I mostly work with paper materials, so I have a little stock of various types of paper. Scrapbooking punches can also be very useful, I love using them. But really, you can make lovely cards with only pens, you don’t need any fancy stuff.
