Although weekends happen pretty regularly, this is only the third weekend snippets. These two days usually go by so fast, but this time I had my camera in hand to trap a few moments in time.
Long walks
For years (OK, maybe just one year, but still), we planned to visit a nearby attraction called "Csonka-torony" which is an old church-ruin near Soltszentimre. So, as the weather was spectacular this weekend, we finally decided to go. We drove there, and then walked on muddy dirt roads for what seemed forever, and after a while, we realized that we started our journey from the wrong direction, thus we had to walk about twice as much as we should have.
Well, this happens, right? Anyway, with the weather so nice, we really didn’t mind. It took us about an hour to get to the ruin, and it was all so tranquil out there in the middle of nowhere, that it was worth it. Still, we were beyond happy to finally SIT DOWN after we got back to the car.
We didn’t really meet anyone on the road, except for one car – the driver was brave enough to go on the really muddy road. I hope he didn’t get stuck somewhere… We also saw a shepherd and his flock. It was all so quiet and peaceful; and with the sun shining so bright, we charged up both mentally and physically.
Coffee/tea break
On the way home we decided to go through the town of Kiskőrös and we stopped there at Petőfi Korzó Café to charge up a little with some coffee (for me) and tea (for my boyfriend). This was the first time we went here, but it definitely won’t be the last. This café manages to mix traditional café house vibes with modern elements, without making it chaotic. And their coffee was also great, not to mention that they serve teas in such big mugs, you kind of wish you could just curl up with a long novel in hand and read.
Getting ready for Halloween
Although Halloween is not celebrated in Hungary, it has been a tradition in my family for many years to carve a pumpkin for Halloween, because we really do like this holiday. So yeah, we carve, and then our little pumpkin sits in the garden for a few weeks, with a candle inside.
After we finished the brain surgery on the pumpkin, we collected all the seeds, because we decided to try and roast them. I’ll update you about this experiment! Then, our little brainless pumpkin received a lovely face, and I can’t wait to light a candle inside, so make sure to check Instagram regularly to meet this handsome guy soon! After we carved the pumpkin, I cooked some, baked some, and the weekend is almost over. But hey, soon it will be back again – have a nice week until then!
