For the past couple of years, this recipe has been my go-to whenever an event calls for some cookies - whether we are talking about a high school reunion or an evening with friends. So, although I can't guarantee anything, these chocolate chip cookies has proved themselves at numerous occasions - they are quick, easy, tasty, and everybody loves them.
Maybe these aren't the prettiest, most beautiful sweet treats in the world, but judging something by its looks is wrong, and that stands for desserts as well. If I had to choose between a creamy wonderful piece of cake and a chocolate chip cookie that's a bit ugly, I would go for the latter one, without a moment of hesitation, because CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES.
This is yet another of those recipes you can experiment with. I used oat flour instead of plane flour before, and I also made a vegan version, in which I used apples to substitute eggs, and coconut oil to substitute butter. So these are versatile little cookies, feel free to play around with them - here I'm going to give you a basic recipe.
Oh, and no, unfortunately I cannot tell you what degree you should bake these at. I still roll with two kinds of temperature: hot and really hot. For this one, we will go with really hot.
What you’ll need:
- 200 grams flour
- 3 teaspoons of baking powder
- 140 g sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanillin sugar
- 150 grams soft butter
- 2 eggs
- 100 g quality dark chocolate, chopped (or chocolate chips)
- 50 grams walnuts, chopped
- 50 grams hazelnuts, chopped
- 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
How:
- Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, vanillin sugar, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Add eggs and butter and mix again (this time with a mixer).
- Mix in the chocolate and the nuts.
Tip: wrap the mixture into a plastic wrap and pop into the freezer for 5-10 minutes. - Using a baking tray lined with parchment paper, make little walnut sized hills from the mixture (use two teaspoons for this). Don't overcrowd the tray, as they will stretch a bit in the heat.
- In a preheated oven, bake the cookies for about 10 minutes - you'll know they are done when the kitchen smell amazing and the edges of the cookies turn into the legendary color of golden brown.
Tip: if you like your cookies extra crispy, wait a few more minutes. - Take the cookies out, let them cool, and really let them cool, so that they can become crunchy.
As I said, these cookies are pretty easy to make. And it's even easier to devour them. OK, well, chopping everything up can make you sweat, but otherwise it's pretty easy to make these bad boys. So, what is your staple treat to bring to gatherings? Let me know in the comments!
